I have often had the inspiring experience of guiding people into that creative space where something new, free and vital comes into play for them.
Through simple drawing, painting and clay sculpting exercises art therapy can:
- initiate a process of change within you
- stabilize imbalance
- rediscover your original nature
- liberate repressed resources and allow vitality and creativity to flow freely again
“Somewhere within me
there’s a room I’ve always known was there,
but which I daren’t enter.
I’ve always known it was important for me to become familiar with this room
because that’s where I can learn to know myself,
but I keep putting off entering the room.
I suspect that in this room there is an insight which is crucial to have and hard to bear.
In glimpses I can just make out what the room looks like; a clean, dignified, vital room, but not so clean as be cold, not so dignified as to cause fear, not so vital as to seduce.
This room contains stillness, stillness for all the senses.
When all resistance is gone and I’ve let the room fill me I know it’s a good place to be.
Give me a physical room which can prepare me to enter that innermost room.”
